Brent Brent Child and Family Clinic is based at Warranty House, a community clinic run by Brent CAMHS.
Brent CAMHS offers assessment and therapy for children and young people with mental health difficulties from birth until their eighteenth birthday. We have guidelines to help us decide who can access the service and we accept referrals for children and young people who have a Brent GP.
CAMHS workers in the team have various training backgrounds including psychiatry, psychology, psychotherapy, play therapy, nursing, and family therapy.
Brent CAMHS provides a diagnostic service and a range of individual and group-based therapeutic interventions. At the first appointment we will probably see the family together and also meet the young person on their own. Some ongoing appointments are available early morning and after school.
The team mostly sees families in the clinic. We see many families where English is not the first language and provide interpreters if necessary.
We run a variety of groups, including parenting groups and groups specifically for young people. Some workers are based in Brent schools, offering therapeutic work with children, young people and their parents.
Brent CAMHS has forums for young people and parents in order to hear ideas about our service and make changes where possible. We also work closely with other agencies in Brent and we signpost families if appropriate.
